Queen's Domain Trident: Weapon, Keys and Gates

Separate Queen's Domain Trident equipment from temple keys, learn the reported level-5 conversion, and distinguish reusable locks from the slate entrance.

Quick answer

Trident can refer to the weapon outside Obmuer Temple or the keys used in temple mechanisms. Full-game reports say leveling the weapon to level 5 breaks it and produces a Trident Key. The temple's four-socket entrance instead requires four Triangular Slates, while the optional three-key gate leads toward the Engraved Halberd.

The weapon location appears in the weapon guide and Destructoid's table. The entrance, reusable mechanisms and optional gate are distinguished in the puzzle guide.

Find the weapon outside the temple

Look for the Trident mounted on a wall just outside Obmuer Temple's entrance. Finding this weapon is not the same as collecting every key used inside the dungeon. The exterior location is documented in the weapon reference and second weapon table.

Can the weapon become a key?

Full-game community reports agree that leveling the Trident weapon to level 5 breaks it and produces a Trident Key. This answers the equipment-conversion question, but also means the weapon should not be expected to remain unchanged at that threshold. See the Trident thread and evolution discussion.

For other progression exceptions, use Weapons.

Retrieve main-route keys when the route allows it

The main temple route uses two reusable Trident Keys. After opening a route, retrieve a key from its mechanism when the new path permits it, then carry it forward for another lock. Do not assume that every mechanism requires another permanently consumed key. This reuse pattern is described in the puzzle guide and video around 6:09–6:17.

The instruction depends on retrieval remaining possible. It is not a guarantee of access to every mechanism after every later event.

Do I need three keys for the main boss?

The documented three-socket gate protects the optional Engraved Halberd route, not the main boss route. Separate that equipment detour from main progression before treating another key as a boss prerequisite. See the gate explanation and Halberd location.

Where should I look for the Emerald Trident Key?

Focus on the deeper-temple skeleton encounter near the Sacred Cistern route. The community account identifies a room where two skeletal crossbowmen shoot toward you near the Sacred Cistern save point. The puzzle guide describes the deeper approach near a staircase and a wall opening below a large pit. Compare the found-key report with the puzzle reference; these are search landmarks rather than complete turn-by-turn directions.

Use slates for the four-socket entrance

Collect four Triangular Slates from the flooded ruins for the sealed Obmuer Temple entrance. Internal Trident-Key mechanisms are a different obstacle, so check which kind of doorway is blocking you before choosing what to search for. The entrance requirement appears in the puzzle guide. Use Exploration to compare other barrier types.

Scope

This guide does not establish a complete five-key route, merchant prices, late-game stock requirements, individual slate pickup directions or statue-color mapping. Conflicting color and merchant claims are not used as instructions, and key retrieval is not guaranteed after every later event.

The four-slate entrance requirement is independently shown in the progression video at 2:56–3:41, alongside the written puzzle guide. These entrance slates are separate from reusable Trident Keys inside the temple.
