Necronomicon

Queen's Domain Necronomicon: Tower and Acid Guide

Reach Queen's Domain Tower gates, prepare for Necronomicon with the reported ranged-and-melee pattern, and use acid daggers on the documented onward route.

Quick answer

The documented prerequisites include opening the Tower with three outdoor Azure Torch beacons, lighting interior gargoyles 3 and 7, and using the rotated staircase and elevator to obtain Budaen's Forbidden Archives Key. A complete key-to-arena route is not supplied here. The reported fight approach uses throwing weapons at range and brief melee openings when the book falls. After obtaining the Acid Vial, basic throwing daggers can clear flesh on the route toward Deimpo Mausoleum.

Complete the documented Tower entrance requirements

Take the Azure Torch near the Tower entrance and light the three outdoor gargoyle beacons. These beacons are separate from the numbered gargoyles inside. Return after all three are lit; the entrance requirement appears in the opening walkthrough and video around 5:34–5:43.

Inside the Tower, use the Azure Torch on numbered gargoyles 3 and 7 to open the next interior passage. Incorrect activations can trigger enemies, so do not treat every numbered statue as a required target. See the puzzle guide and Tower exploration reference.

Obtain the Forbidden Archives Key

  1. From beneath the Storm Gem platform, use Wind Dash to reach the switch across the gap.
  2. Activate the switch to rotate the staircase, then climb its new alignment.
  3. Take the elevator down and speak with Budaen for the Forbidden Archives Key.
  4. Return to the locked doors near the Storm Gem and use this key to enter the Forbidden Archives. Receiving the key alone does not open the route from where Budaen stands.
  5. Use the next Crystal Monument before continuing. The route then takes an elevator into a run of enemy encounters leading to Necronomicon; prepare healing before committing to it.

The Tower walkthrough, exploration account and video at 6:47–7:05 agree on the switch, key and Storm-Gem-door connection. Use Walkthrough for the earlier opening route.

Prepare for the reported combat pattern

Have your available throwing weapons ready and keep the Azure Torch available for opportunities to use it. The reported approach pressures the book from a distance, closes briefly when it falls, and withdraws before ranged pressure resumes. Compare the written encounter account with the video around 7:07–7:33.

SituationReported response
Book attacking from range with status effectsKeep distance and use throwing weapons
Book falls and becomes accessibleClose for a short melee exchange
Ranged pressure resumesWithdraw instead of continuing the chase
Goat-like form appearsPrioritize avoidance and distance until the book returns

The accounts also describe using the Azure Torch to burn the book when possible. Treat this as a broad reported approach, not a frame-precise script or guarantee that every opening is safe. The written account and video sequence describe the same general pattern.

Why avoid forcing melee throughout the encounter?

The documented pattern involves ranged status attacks and short melee opportunities when the book falls. Waiting for that event gives you a reported opening to approach rather than repeatedly pursuing the book through its attacks. This is the basis of the ranged-first account, supported by the video description of the fight.

Use acid daggers for the onward route

After defeating Necronomicon and obtaining the Acid Vial, basic throwing daggers can destroy the Tower's fleshy barriers. Boss defeat alone should not be treated as automatic removal of every obstruction. The upgrade is described in the puzzle guide and corroborated by a player report of opening a face barrier with acid daggers.

Return toward the area near Budaen, who supplied the Archives key, and destroy the growth there to reveal the documented route toward Deimpo Mausoleum. This is an onward progression landmark, not a complete Tower-cleanup itinerary. See the continuation account and acid-route explanation.

Does defeating the boss finish Sparkling Clean?

Hell Transcribed requires defeating Necronomicon, whereas Sparkling Clean separately requires cleaning up the Tower of Knowledge. Track those objectives independently. Their descriptions appear on the official achievement page; use Achievements for other supported milestones.

What should I do when flesh remains?

Use the documented acid-enabled basic throwing daggers on the fleshy barriers rather than expecting boss death to clear them automatically. That is the supported progression action in the puzzle guide and barrier report. Remaining flesh alone is not a diagnosis of its cause, so this guide does not prescribe a bug workaround or a universal face count.

Scope

The access steps identify the key-use doors and the subsequent save point, elevator and enemy gauntlet; they are not a room-by-room map of every Archives encounter. Combat advice is a reported pattern rather than a precise attack-cue guide. No connected-face checklist, guaranteed status cure, manual Acid Vial equip step, confirmed barrier bug or patch-specific barrier fix is claimed.
